2008 Ecumenical
Breakfast
The Ecumenical Breakfast is the closing event of the 93rd
ASALH Convention. A hearty breakfast buffet will begin at
9:00am, and the event will end at 10:30am.  
This event will be
held in the MFCC Rooms G,H &I.


The Ecumenical Breakfast will feature the End of the
Convention Toast, in addition to the Official Launch for the 94th
Annual Convention.

We are honored to have Mr. JehJeh Pruitt,
Fox 6 WBRC anchor, as our emcee.  

Music will be provided by the Miles College Choir,
under the direction of Dr. Bernard Williams.

Breakfast Speakers:

Dr. Wilton Bunch
Wilton Bunch is retired from a distinguished career as an orthopedic surgeon, professor
of orthopedics, and medical school dean. In recent years, he has joined his medical
training and experience with the academic study of ethics. Dr. Bunch has taught
previously as an adjunct professor at Beeson, but joined the faculty in the fall of 2001,
teaching primarily in the field of ethics. He is an ordained priest in the Episcopal Church,
having served recently as the assisting priest of St. Alban's Episcopal Church, St. Pete
Beach, Florida. Dr. Bunch has published five books, written many book chapters, and
authored numerous peer reviewed papers, many of which are related to ethical issues.
Dr. Bunch is currently a professor of Ethics at Samford Univeristy.  His wife, Vicki, is also
a physician.

Evelyn Dilworth-Williams
Evelyn Dilworth-Williams, native of Birmingham, is a poet, author, and motivational
speaker. She is also a certified secondary teacher, guidance counselor, and a master
facilitator of parenting education. She received her B.A. in Sociology from Miles College
in Fairfield, Alabama. She is also a graduate of the University of Alabama in Birmingham
Graduate School of Education in Guidance and Counseling, with additional study in
Family Counseling.  She is also a certified parenting facilitator by Active Parenting
Publishers of Atlanta, Georgia. Dilworth-Williams is the author of:
Panola: My Kinfolks'
Land, Morning Promises & My Evening Songs
, and Polishing the Apples Children's
Poetry
. Her poems range from inspirational to down right humorous. Dilworth-Williams
poetic motivation is a blend of all life's universal energy.

Dr. Bernard Williams
A native of Fairfield Alabama, Bernard Williams is the son of Mrs. Mary L. Lockett
Williams and the late Mr. Jimmie L. Williams. An educational pioneer, Dr. Williams was a
member of the first class to integrate the Fairfield School System. He attended
Tennessee State University with a major in Music Education for voice and the organ; he
received the Bachelors of Music in Music Education from Samford University in
Birmingham, Alabama, the Master’s of Arts Degree in Education Administration from the
University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, where he was a Danforth Fellow; the Ed.S. Degree
from Samford University in Educational Administration; a M.Th. and the Ph.D. in
Systematic Theology from the Mercy Seat School of Theology. Dr. Williams also earned
the Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Samford University.
