William Harris October 1927

William Harris has served as president of three different historically black
colleges and universities. In 1982, he took leadership of Paine College,
where he had begun his teaching career as a professor in 1967. From
1988 to 1993, he led Texas Southern University. From 1994 to 2000, he
served as president of Alabama State University.
